August 18, 2008 Dear Prayer Partners, What happened to the
monthly prayer letters? Well, if you haven’t heard, I (Chaplain Sam)
fell on May 23rd and severely damaged my right knee. I
subsequently had surgery to repair the damage and now am in physical
therapy three times a week.
Since the fall Margaret’s and my schedules have been crazy.
I have not been able to work on the chapel because of my limited
mobility. This Wednesday,
August 20, I am scheduled to go back into the hospital for more work on
the knee. Please keep
Margaret and me in your prayers. We have an
outstanding praise report to share—Volunteer Chaplain Jim Murphy, who
has been off the chapel for months battling cancer, will be back on the
schedule next month! Praise
the Lord! His initial cancer
treatment had to be aborted due to a violent reaction to the medication.
His doctor found that if Jim took steroids prior to the
treatments he was able to complete them. The following prayer
request is from Margaret’s sister, Trudy, about her husband, Dick, who
recently had hip replacement surgery:
We went to see the pulmonary specialist
today [August 14] regarding the “suspicious area" in Dick's right lung.
A PET scan will be done next week with a needle biopsy to follow IF
warranted. So we are being cautiously optimistic at this point.
As for the hip, Dick is doing remarkably well. Moving around
almost normally & has been taking the dog for a short walk of 1/4 mile!
The biggest problem is the blood thinner he has to inject himself with
(in the stomach). Ten doses of it cost $492.26!!!!! (We have
no prescription coverage) Thanks everyone for your prayers!
Don't stop! Our good friends,
Ron and Yvonne, ask for prayer for their friends, Lynn and Shelly:
Lynn and Shelly, a married couple and
team drivers, are going through a difficult time.
Lynn had a stroke from which he has recovered with no lingering
after effects. PTL!
Their problem is that DOT regulations do not permit Lynn to drive
for one year following a stroke.
Statistics show an 80% probability of another incident within the
first 12 months following a stroke.
Lynn
is still on the road with Shelly.
But, with only Shelly driving they are not able to generate
nearly as much revenue as when they were both driving.
In addition to running fewer miles per week they also don't
qualify for the team driver only loads they were used to getting. The staff and
volunteer chaplains at the Elkton chapels thank you for your faithful
prayers for us and for the visitors who come into the chapels.
May God bless you and yours richly! In His name,
|
