Chaplain Tom and Linda KramerIn 1976 Tom accepted the Lord on a Transport For Christ chapel. Chapels were mobile at that time, and this one was located at the Robin Hood Truck Stop, I-83, Exit 14, north of Newberrytown, PA. His life was falling apart. He even tried to commit suicide by driving into a bridge. After reaching the other side of the bridge, he thought, “How did I miss the bridge?” (Seems like God had a hand in that!) He was close to an exit and noticed there was an unusual light over the truck stop, so he looked to see where it was coming from. It was the chapel, and he knew that he had to get there. Chaplain Al Ruttan was instrumental in leading Tom to Jesus Christ that night. It was a decision that changed Tom’s life and gave him a burden for lost and backslidden truck drivers. He enjoyed stopping at chapels, especially after a permanent chapel—the Life Saver—was placed at the ’76 Truck Stop in Elkton, MD. One day in the early ‘90s a chaplain observed Tom’s connection with the drivers and encouraged him to become a volunteer chaplain. Since then he and Linda have been serving on an Elkton chapel one weekend a month, telling drivers the good new of the gospel. On February 1, 2003 Tom was accepted as a candidate for chaplaincy and is now raising prayer and financial support to become a full-time chaplain. (Contact us) |
